In Scandanavia, a smorgasbord is a traditional celebratory meal, served buffet-style with hot and cold plates, usually for large groups. In DC, Smorgasburg is an open-air food market that draws dozens of food trucks and vendors to enjoy the best of DC’s food, drinks, culture, and community. Taking inspiration from the successful Smorgasburg-branded events in Brooklyn, Smorgasburg DC will be held every Saturday at Tingey Plaza in the Navy Yard.
More than 30 different local vendors are slated to be on site, with a beer garden and plenty of shaded seating available. The variety of vendors and diversity of food options make this a great place to try new foods and drinks–you might even find your new favorite restaurant. Regular booths include Nicecream, Cracked, Uzu, Hot Lola’s, Lei’d Poke, and many more. Insider tip: make sure to bring your sunscreen, a picnic blanket, a reusable water bottle, and a big appetite.
