Another reason to love being a DC local? This great city has no shortage of free, outdoor events this summer, even on a quiet Tuesday night. Head to Georgetown for the Sunset Cinema series, a chance to watch a movie under the stars with the picturesque sunset and skyline as the ultimate backdrop.
Films start at sunset, around 8:30 p.m., and this year’s theme of “Out of Office” includes movies about vacations that are sure to tickle your travel bug. The schedule includes Under the Tuscan Sun on July 9, The Sandlot on July 16, Little Miss Sunshine on July 23, The Parent Trap (1998 version) on July 30, and Eat Pray Love on August 6. Plan to get there early to get the best spot on the Georgetown Waterfront Park lawn, and take advantage of nearby food trucks and grab and go dining options to picnic before the movie. DC favorites like Sweetgreen, SUNdeVICH, and South Block are just steps away from the park.
No tickets or registration is needed for this free event. Just come early, bring your blanket, and be grateful to have another DC event to soak up the summer.
