John F. Kennedy would have turned 100 years old this May 29th. In order to commemorate what would be the centennial birthday of the fallen leader, the Kennedy Center Open House: Celebrating JFK at 100 invites the public to explore the center on Saturday, May 27th from 12 to 10 p.m.
The event was inspired by a televised tour of the White House led by Jackie Kennedy in 1962. Today, this may seem like business as usual, but in the early '60s, it was a big deal! The public had never seen beyond the regal doors of the White House before, and the First Lady wanted all Americans to know they were welcome. The same offer goes out to visitors to the Kennedy Center for the 100th birthday celebration. Enjoy live jam sessions and concerts, live storytelling, ballet performances, and more at the Kennedy Center Open House, all for free.
