If you are looking for a cultural way to spend a weekend or evening, consider checking out the Sense of Time, Video and Film-Based Works of Africa exhibition at the National Museum of African Art. If you live in Newseum Residences apartments, the exhibit and museum are just a quick 15-minute walk from home!
The exhibit offers a collection of film and video clips and pieces that aim to tell the story of time. The installation includes seven pieces of “time-based art,” featuring six different African artists: Sammy Baloji, Theo Eshetu, Moataz Nasr, Berni Searle, Yinka Shonibare MBE and Sue Williamson. The exhibition was organized as a joint effort between the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art. A trailer featuring what to expect from the exhibit can be viewed on the museum's websites.
