The Smithsonian American Art Museum is a place for locals of all ages to enjoy. Adults and children love exploring the museum, but if you have aspirations of channeling your own creativity, you may even enjoy the family programs that include hands-on activities.
In June and August of 2016, daily programs start at 11:30 a.m. and are suitable for the whole family to enjoy. On June 18, stop into the Kogod Courtyard for a free event that will keep everyone cool. Kids will love the water scrims to splash in, and the steel drums offer a background rhythm for kiddos to dance the day away. Crafts and games will be set up for the whole family to enjoy until 3 p.m. that day. At the same location on August 20, Olympic Celebration Family Day is all about celebrating the culture of Rio de Janeiro, the site of the 2016 Olympics. Enjoy an afternoon of crafts, games, and music that will offer a fun cultural lesson like no other.
