Honeysuckle, which just opened a few weeks ago in Dupont Circle, combines Chef Hamilton Johnson’s South Carolina upbringing with his passion for Nordic cuisine. The menu is a collection of Southern classics and Scandinavian favorites prepared with unique ingredients and classic techniques. Your meal will start off with a diverse bread basket including butter flake rolls and banana bread. Try the slow-roasted and perfectly flaky Icelandic cod with pea puree, chicken crackling, smoked roe, and malted veloute next.
Honeysuckle also offers an extensive cocktail menu with fun, themed names paying homage to hair bands and classic rock. The decor is also quirky and edgy, with portraits of music legends like David Bowie and Lou Reed adorning the walls, an antique rug from a Belgian castle and lots of chandeliers. Check out the colorful ceiling mural painted by local artist Rick Bach inspired by Chef Johnson’s tattoos.
